Mr. Shiozaki Yasuhisa, President

Mr. Yasuhisa Shiozaki is the President of the Japan Shotokan Karate Association. Born on November 7th, 1950, in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan, he is married with two sons. He was elected into the first constituency of Ehime Prefecture and is currently serving in the House of Representatives, having also been elected to the House of Councilors in the past. He is the son of Jun Shiozaki, a former House of Representatives' member who headed the Economic Planning Agency. Mr. Shiozaki formerly worked in the Bank of Japan and has a profound knowledge of financial issues. He served as senior vice-minister for Foreign Affairs in Junichiro Koizumi's Cabinet, being at that time already a House of Representatives member. He gained his first Cabinet post as a Chief Cabinet Secretary, after playing a key role in a group of LDP lawmakers proposing various policies in the late 1990s.
Mr. Shiozaki, once described by the Australian World Today program, as being regarded by some ''as a future Japanese Prime Minister'', is a leading member of the Liberal Democratic Party.
Nagaki Sensei‘s and Mr. Shiozaki families have had close ties of friendship since their father‘s time. Mr. Shiozaki himself has always been a great supporter of karate and of the JSKA since its establishment and has a depth of knowledge and great appreciation of the concepts of karate itself, which has allowed him to embrace his role as JSKA President, with both understanding and vigour.
